Scientific Name: Asarum canadense
Family: Aristolochiaceae (Birthworts)
Blooming Period: April-May

The flower on Wild Ginger is found lying on the ground between the two
heart-shaped leaves. The flower is pollinated by beetles, which is why the
flower stays so low. The plant grows from 6"-12" high, in mesic woods. Wild
Ginger is not related to the tropical plant, although the root does
smell and taste similarly.
